Make acoustics simple
Acoustics can be complicated, difficult to understand and harder to predict.
We don't make it harder than it needs to be and we never write reports to make ourselves sound clever. We use normal language and images to present solutions clearly, simply and efficiently.
01
Surveys
We carry out noise surveys for all your project needs, gathering information needed for planning assessments, event monitoring, building envelope design and more.

03
Testing
We offer acoustic testing services for schools, commercial premises and discharge of typical planning conditions.

02
Design
Our consulting team have worked on hundreds of projects over the last 8 years across the acoustics industry, specialising in education and office design but with wide ranging experience.

What we do
We provide advice to make the world a more people friendly place.
We help to make schools, offices and your home quieter.
We advise on finishes to reduce reverberation in rooms to make them feel less noisy and less stressful or to make music venues sing.
We advice on wall and floor constructions to reduce disturbance from neighbours or colleagues.

Educational buildings
Because the room you learn in makes a difference to how you listen and feel.
Schools, Colleges and Universities
All schools in England and Wales are requried to achieve the mininimum performance standards of BB93 to comply with the Building Regulations.

Commercial Spaces
Offices, laboratories, cafes... acoustic comfort is so important to the users of these spaces and should therefore be a primary concern for the design team.
Offices and retail
Acoustic standards for commercial spaces are often less regulated and therefore skipped entirely. This is not because acoustics do not matter, on the contrary, good acoustic design reduces stress in the workplace, improves concentration and generally contributes to creating positive spaces to be in. We have proven experience designing these types spaces to fit both the client's needs and relevant standards such as BS8233, ISO 22955 and guidance from the Britsh Council for Offices. Good Acoustic design is also a key component for achieving credits under BREEAM and other building excellence schemes.

Performance spaces
Whether for amplified music or choral recital, good acoustic design is vital to make the venue, a venue.
Indoor venues - Churches, Theatres, Concert Halls, Clubs.
Whether new build or existing, acoustic design of music venues is critical for the engagement and enjoyment of the audience. Having a controlled sound in the room before installing an amplified sound system is critical to achieving clear and tight sounding musical performance and improving consistency across the space. Cornerstone Acoustics can also provide environmental noise assessment for planning and noise break-out/in mitigation.

Healthcare buildings
HTM 08:01 compliant design and testing. As requried by NHS and BREEAM
NHS, Private healthcare and Secondary care providers
Healthcare facilities should be designed with patient wellfare, privacy and comfort in mind. It is therefore crucial to: - Mitigate noise break-in from external noise sources - Build suitable separating walls and floors to ensure privacy between consultation rooms - Control excessively reverberant conditions to reduce internal noise levels and providfe a calm environnment for recovery. Typically this is achieved by designing for compliance with HTM 08:01 but projects and room uses rearely fit into guidance perfecetly and Cornerstone Acoustics has the experience to interpret the guidance to ensure the WHOLE building is suitabnle for use and focussed on the care fo the end-user.

Historic and character buildings
Building renovations can be complex and require true care and attention to detail
Churches, listed buildings and generally lovely old buildings that require special attention
Renovating buildings is always more complex than building new structures and requires experience to fully anticpate the issues that can come up during the build and to handle the wide variety of solutions that are often required. At Cornerstone Acoustics, we like a challenge and appreciate the need to preserve and re-use existing structures for both history and sustainability. We always handle these projects with care, striving to provide sensitive solutions that respect the visual appearance and building fabric of these special buildings.
